Fairfax County Refuse Collection

Frequency & Fees: County code requires weekly refuse collection. However, some companies offer twice a week collection. Prices and services vary among collectors.

If you live in a single-family home, select from one of over 30 private haulers licensed for residential collection in Fairfax County. Call (703) 324-5230 for a list of haulers by the area(s) they serve or look in the Yellow Pages under Rubbish & Garbage Removal.

If you live in a townhouse, check with the homeowners' association for your neighborhood.

Or, if you live in an apartment or condominium, contact your building/property manager for trash/recyclable location(s) in your community.

Residents may also self-haul refuse and recyclables to the I-66 Transfer Station in Fairfax (4618 West Ox Road/631-1179) or the I-95 Complex in Lorton (9850 Furnace Road/690-1703); refuse, yard debris and bulk loads are charged. Fees vary.

County Collection service is provided for a fee to over 44,000 homes and can only be obtained through a petition process.
